Why did you have the procedure?
I decided to go from my larger implants to smaller implants for a few reasons. Firstly, I just thought they were too big for me. I got very caught up in the excitement when I had them done originally (like 7 years ago) and I just thought they were too big for my body. It wasn’t a decision that I took lightly.
Why did you choose MYA?
I chose MYA because I had my boobs done with MYA before and so many people go to them. When I looked into re-augmentation, it’s slightly different than just getting your boobs done the first time. When I did my research online, it all suggested MYA so I obviously went to them.
How was your surgeon consult?
When I met my surgeon, I immediately felt comfortable and I think he just got what I was asking for. I wanted smaller and natural looking implants. It’s not something they can guarantee and they were very honest about that. They were also very honest about my scarring and the fact that my scars would have to be made wider this time round. I preferred them to be honest and tell me all these things because these are all the little things that you need to take into consideration. You need to think, “is this really what I want to do?” I left that appointment feeling really confident and not nervous, which made me think this is what I want to do. I went back again before my surgery just to be sure and that wasn’t a problem for them at all.
How was your recovery?
I chose to stay overnight purely because I am quite a drama queen when it comes to being poorly and things like that so I just wanted the nurses to be there if I needed them. The surgeon came back in the morning to see me and said I was free to go home. I came home and just rested. I took a couple of weeks off work to rest and recover.
Are you happy with the results?
I am so beyond happy with the results. I cannot even tell you!
What size implants did you have?
In terms of sizing, I went from a 350cc to a 310cc. I know it doesn’t sound like a big difference but for me and in terms of my body shape, it really was. The surgeon helped me pick my size and I think it was the exact right size for me. I think it’s important to mutually agree the size with your surgeon.
What recovery tips do you have?
Get one of those V pillows that kind of come round your neck. They basically stop your head from tilting to the side when you’re sleeping and help you stay upright. You have to stay sleeping upright for the first 2 weeks so the V pillow was a massive lifesaver. I think it’s really important to get as much sleep as you can when you’re recovering so get those pillows before your surgery.
Also, anything you’re going to need like your toothbrush, toothpaste, food, milk, baby wipes – before you leave, put everything at waist-height level so that when you’re stood up, you can reach it easily. You can’t lift your arms for a while after surgery so make sure everything’s accessible for you.
You can have a bath but obviously you can’t get your incisions wet so I would sit in the bath and use baby wipes. Wash your hair the evening before surgery because you won’t be bothered to wash your hair for a little while afterwards.
