About me:
I’m 34, live in Devon with my husband and 2 boys ages 9 and 7. Myself and my husband have our own cleaning business and I also have a hair and beauty business and where I do pamper parties too.
Why did you want your procedure?
My decision to have a tummy tuck was because of the way my tummy looked as it was something I was very insecure about since having my two boys, both via c section, so leaving a horrible pouch. I had tried to lose weight and to tone up - but nothing seemed to be working and was just getting me down all the time so decided to look into surgery.
Were your friends and family supportive?
My husband was very supportive as he knew how much I wanted this done and how much my body bothered me. He said “if you really want it done and it’s going to make you happy then do it, but you don’t need it done, you’re perfect the way you are!” I knew I didn’t need it done but I knew it would make me soo much more happier! Which it has already!
Why did you choose MYA?
I chose MYA as they were very popular and highly recommended to me. I had a consultation elsewhere but didn’t feel the same. I knew MYA was for me.
What are your top tips you would give to someone looking into having cosmetic surgery?
· Stay in the UK! (Be safe! And it’s defo worth the extra!)
· Research
· Don’t be afraid to ask for advice / feedback from others - no question is a silly question
· Be patient with your healing and if you’re ever worried, contact someone.
How was your consultation with your surgeon?
My consultation was amazing! I firstly had a video consultation with Dr Anna De Leo. I told her my concerns and what I wanted doing. She suggested doing the two surgeries separately as she thought it would be too much for me and my body for recovery. So I decided to do my tummy first as it bothered me the most and then look into my breasts afterwards. After my video consultation I arranged a in-person consultation to meet Anna and discuss everything that she was going to be doing.
How was your recovery?
The first week of recovery was quite tough. I did struggle to stand and walk around but with help I could do small movements. By the second week things started to get a little easier. I was slowly back to work after 4 weeks and I took it easy for the next 2. I found it hard sleeping on my back and being reclined as I am normally a tummy sleeper - but it wasn’t too bad and it’s not for long and worth it.
Are you happy with your results?
I couldn't be happier!!! I LOVE my new body shape. I’ve finally reached a point in my life where I can look in the mirror and feel happy with what I see! I actually cried the first time I properly saw myself (Happy tears though)
What do you feel is different now following your procedure?
I just feel so much more happier, so much more confident and I feel more comfortable wearing clothes and underwear and being naked in front of my husband.
How would you describe your MYA journey in 3 words?
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
What would you say to someone that is worried about the scar?
I had an extended tummy tuck so I do have quite a big scar, but it’s really nothing to worry about. I am only in early days and my scar is still a little red but I know this will fade in time.
Would you recommend MYA?
Yes! 1,000,0000% And I have already told so many people about MYA.
Do you feel the procedure has affected your mental health/ wellbeing?
It’s changed my life for the better, I’m a lot happier. I can wear clothes without worrying about the lumps and bumps. And wear nice underwear too without having a pouch hanging out.
How did you prepare for surgery?
The day of my op I had so many mixed emotions, I was so excited, but also super nervous. Luckily I had the support of my husband throughout to put my mind at ease, calm me and get me ready. I done my research prior to my surgery and made sure I had everything I needed for my surgery and for my recovery afterwards.
How did you fund your procedure?
I used the MYA finance for 50% of the cost, the other 50% I took out a loan.
I will keep recommending MYA to everyone thinking about surgery!
