Have the Sex and the City cast had cosmetic surgery?

As we sit not-so-patiently and wait for the next series to hit our screens, we've been re-watching the original series and taken a look at what procedures we think the cast members of Sex and the City may have had done to maintain their youthful looks.

Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie)

Sarah Jessica Parker, plays Carrie, a journalist with a serious shoe shopping addiction. Over the years Sarah Jessica Parker has served us with many iconic looks, looking back at past photos of the Sex and the City star, it is possible that she has had a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures over time to help maintain a youthful appearance as well as change some of her physical features.

When we compare past photos of Sarah, it is possible she may have had a Rhinoplasty procedure (the surgical name for nose reshaping surgery) - the bridge of her nose appears thinner compared to previous images. A nose changing shape in such a way could only be achieved through surgery rather than makeup contouring. The cost of a Rhinoplasty procedure depends on many different physiological factors, the techniques used and the surgeon,  however prices typically range from £6,000-£10,000.

55 year old, Sarah’s eyes appear brighter and her eyebrows slightly lifted – usually pointing towards the non-surgical treatment of anti-wrinkle injections (also known as Botox). Sarah has most likely had Botox to her forehead, glabella (in between the eyebrows) As you can see, she has a smooth forehead, lifted eyebrows and a limited frown/expression. The treatment normally lasts between 3-6 months and as muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The procedure can give the appearance of smoother skin if you are after a youthful appearance or can be used as a preventative measure to slow the process of getting wrinkles.

Recent photos of Sarah, suggest she may have undergone the non-surgical treatment of fillers to her lips as she appears to have slightly fuller lips compared to previous images. The provider has ensured her lips still appear extremely natural and in proportion to the patient’s facial features. The average cost of lip fillers in the UK can range depending on the provider and the amount of filler used, however, you can expect to pay anything from £200 - £1000 per treatment.

The Sex and the City star  may have had the non-surgical treatment of Dermal Fillers to her cheeks often referred to as “cheek fillers”. Dermal fillers can be used in this area to re-introduce structure and volume along the cheekbone just like in Sarah’s case. Fillers can restore lost volume to your face and plump areas, so that deep-set lines are smoothed to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of ageing. Fillers can range in price depending on the area and amount used - between £150 - £500 per session.

It is possible that Sarah Jessica Parker will regularly receive these non-surgical treatments to maintain her youthful appearance along with a healthy diet and access to a personal dermatologist. We think she looks amazing and look forward to seeing her infamous glamorous looks back on our screens.  

Kristin Davis (Charlotte)

Kristin Davis plays, Charlotte, the art enthusiast and hopeless romantic who falls in love with her divorce lawyer. While there is no denying Kristin's ageless beauty, it is not uncommon for a woman of Kristin's age to undergo the non-surgical treatments of Anti-Wrinkle injections often referred to as Botox. You can see that the results do not have to make a dramatic difference, a small amount in the correct areas can give the appearance of smoother skin and a more youthful appearance. This avoids creating a "frozen look", which some patients ask for to prevent facial movement altogether. Kristin has likely asked for a more youthful appearance. The treatment will normally last 3-6 months as muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear after this time and need to be treated again. She has likely had the treatment to her forehead and glabella (in between eyebrows).

Kristin Davis, 55 and now a mother of two is likely to have access to a personal trainer and nutritionist to help keep her in shape and maintain her glowing complexion, it is also possible that she will have regular 'tweaks' and non-surgical treatments to maintain her youthful appearance. 

 Cynthia Nixon (Miranda)

Cynthia Nixon, plays Miranda the power house lawyer who isn't afraid to speak her mind. Looking at past photos of the Sex and the City star, it is possible that Cynthia has invested in non-surgical treatments over the years such as anti-wrinkle injections, often referred to as Botox. Photos would suggest that Cynthia may have had this procedure on her forehead.

This non-surgical treatment will create a smooth forehead and limit any frown lines and expression. The treatment will normally last three to six months before the muscle action gradually returns and the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear. This procedure can give the appearance of smoother skin if the patient desires a youthful appearance or it can be used as a preventative measure to slow the process of ageing and getting wrinkles.

The Verdict

When you look back at photos of all the cast members of Sex and the City, there are subtle changes in their appearances to suggest they have most likely had a few non-surgical treatments and maybe some cosmetic surgery procedures over the years to keep them looking youthful and in great shape. We think the ladies are glowing and and can't wait for the glamorous threesome to return to our screens, we are expecting to see lots of iconic outfits, the usual Carrie drama and friendship goals!
