Alexa, define Galentine’s…
The month of L-O-V-E.
Usually celebrated the day before the dreaded V-word on February 13th, Galentine’s is a day to celebrate friendships. Reach out to your closest mates, get a little bit tipsy and empower each other. Who needs a partner anyway?
Single or not, it’s a nice way to make those around you feel loved and appreciated.
How do you celebrate Galentine’s Day?
Everyone has a preference when it comes to girls’ nights.
Do you prefer a chilled weekend in a lodge drinking rosé, or are you more of a dress-up and go-out kind of group?
If you need some inspo, here are our favourite ways to spend time with our girlfriends.
Dinner and a movie
It’s a classic.
Easy to plan and you don’t have to get too dressed up.
It might sound simple but if you just need to get out of the house and have some time off Instagram, a cinema trip is a perfect choice.
Just to let you know…the new Magic Mike film is out on the 10th of Feb…if topless men dancing around is something you’d enjoy (we’ve already booked our tickets).
No time to organise a meet-up? No problem.
Sending flowers or a card to your best mate is a simple way to show you’re thinking about them. You can brighten their day with their favourite bunch or a box of chocolates, for a surefire way to put a smile on their face.
This is perfect if you have friends and family that live a bit further afield and won’t be able to see them on the 13th to celebrate Galentine’s Day.
Book a weekend away
If you’ve got the budget and don’t fancy running into your ex on a night out, a weekend away with your fave girlfriends is the perfect solution.
Whisk yourselves away and book that Paris trip you’ve been dreaming of, or rent a cottage for a few days in the countryside and have a little group therapy session. Whatever you decide on, a girls’ weekend is guaranteed to help you forget about those soppy couples online.
Pamper, pamper, pamper
The dimly lit rooms, the calming music and the aromatherapy oils used in spas are guaranteed to put you in instant relaxation mode. If your love life isn’t going too well, or you just need some pamper time, massaging away your worries is always a good idea.
If you don’t have the time or the budget to escape to a relaxing haven, at-home spa days are a great alternative. Forget about work stresses and bad tinder dates with a face mask and some new pj’s.
Whether you want to get a group of you together or have a night in by yourself, nothing quite beats a pamper night.
Self-love
Not everyone can schedule in time to meet with the gals. If this is the case, use the day (and night) to practise self-love.
This is different for everyone. For some, it could be getting their hair done, while others prefer a chilled night catching up on their favourite shows. Just make sure to have some much-needed YOU-time and do things you enjoy.
Why not treat yourself to a gift? In the words of Miley Cyrus, “I can buy myself flowers”. Treat yourself to a bunch of roses or your favourite snack to brighten up your day.
