What is a facelift?
A facelift is the process of lifting and pulling back the skin around the hairline and jaw to make the face appear tighter and smoother.
It’s a great way to tighten sagging facial skin, smooth out fold lines around the nose and mouth, reduce the appearance of jowls, and tighten loose skin and excess fat around the neck.
How much does a facelift cost?
The cost of a facelift starts at £9,145.
It’s important to note that the cost of cosmetic surgery procedures differs from patient to patient, and depends on their unique needs and requirements.

How do I know if I need a facelift?
Ageing is a natural part of life, and wrinkles and loose skin are hard to avoid. However, lifestyle factors like drinking alcohol, diets containing high levels of sugar, smoking, and sun damage can all accelerate these visible signs of ageing.
While topical treatments and facial massages are beneficial to create temporary brightness and tightness, a facelift is the ultimate way to reduce signs of ageing in the face and neck.
There is no ‘right’ age to get a facelift, but most of the patients we perform this procedure on are over 50 and struggle with deep wrinkles and saggy skin due to a lack of elasticity.
Facelift benefits
The main benefit of a facelift is confidence.
Many of our patients come to MYA because they have low self-esteem due to fine lines and wrinkles on the face and loose, sagging skin around the contours of the jaw and cheekbones.
A facelift instantly rejuvenates the skin to create a much more youthful appearance by shaping the face in a way makeup could never achieve.
People are often hesitant to get a facelift, due to the misconception that it’s noticeable work has been done post-op. However, as scars are hidden around the hairline and behind the ears, a natural, almost undetectable result is created.
The facelift procedure
A facelift takes between 2-4 hours and is performed under general anaesthetic.
Our skilful surgeons remove excess fat and loose skin from the neck, chin, and cheeks to tighten and contour the face. Patients will then be required to stay in a MYA hospital for 1-2 nights to rest and recover - our MYA nurses will also check on your progress and provide wound care during this time.
Facelift aftercare
The recovery time for a facelift is 3 months.
You will be provided with a facial compression garment to wear post-surgery. This must be worn as advised by your surgeon to aid healing and reduce swelling.
Like with the majority of cosmetic surgery procedures, it’s advised you take things slow for a few weeks after your surgery. With a facelift, try to avoid bending down or lifting heavy things up for at least one week.
To avoid knocking the scars, we recommend you don’t take part in vigorous exercise during the initial recovery period. To further eliminate the risk of bumping your face, you may also want to sleep alone for at least a week after your operation.
After the operation, the MYA team will book you in for post-op appointments to check you’re healing correctly and assess your wounds. Here you can ask further questions about your recovery.
