1. Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water is important in all aspects of your health including keeping your skin looking plumper and brighter which applies to your vaginal skin also.
2. Kegel exercises
Yes that’s right ladies, get those pelvic floor muscles working! To do Kegels, squeeze the same muscles you would activate to stop your urine mid-stream. MYA tip: don’t actually do this on the toilet, an empty bladder is best. You can do sets of isometric holds, where you squeeze for a few seconds and then relax, or go for quicker, stronger pulses. Give yourself a trigger so you remember to do them like when you have a text or brushing your teeth; make it something you do daily.
3. Orgasms
The saying “use it or lose it” applies perfectly here! If you are on your own or with a partner, orgasms are important as they increase blood flow to the area. This encourages lubrication which can be lost with age.
4. Wear a VFO (vagina friendly outfit)
Your outfit choice can either help or hinder the appearance of your vagina. Wearing tight clothes or underwear can chafe your labia causing discomfort and that unsightly camel toe. Avoid wearing moist clothing for too long as this can cause irritation or even infection. Moist clothing can occur post-exercise or from sweat on a warm day. We would also avoid underwear at night - let that vagina breathe!
5. Use Mild Non-Perfumed Body Wash
The vagina’s PH balance and skin are sensitive so avoid unnecessary scrubbing and harsh chemicals. Some body washes and bubble baths can lead to irritation and drying out of your ‘down below’. MYA’s vagina-friendly body wash favourite is Sanex Zero %.
6. Swap The Bike
We’re not talking about ditching the spin class or your romantic tandem bike ride but if you are an avid biker, be warned! The friction and unnatural sitting position can put extra pressure on the labia, which over time can cause the aesthetic appearance to change. Maybe mix it up with another type of cardio for a vagina-saving-calorie-blast.
7. Get a Hair Cut
We all like to keep our downstairs looking neat and tidy but as you age your hair will become thinner and possibly turn grey. You have 3 options:
Shave it all off, which many woman already do
Get it dyed, but only from a trained professional. You may need a patch test, as it is a sensitive area. It’s not a place you wish to have a reaction!
Get a wig! We are not actually joking, they are called Merkins, Google it if you don’t believe us.
8. Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery (Designer Vagina)
Many women choose to have cosmetic surgery to rejuvenate their vagina due to aging, following weight loss, child birth or have never been happy with its appearance. At MYA we offer two procedures, which alter the look of the vagina:
Labiaplasty reduces the side of the outer lips and vaginal tightening tightens the vaginal canal and removes excess tissue.
