Why did you want to have rhinoplasty?
Honestly I’ve been thinking about having rhinoplasty ever since I began growing into my nose as a little girl. I always knew I was going to get it done, I just didn’t know when the right time was. Thankfully, at the point of my life I’m in now I knew I had the financial and emotional support around me to go through with it.
I did a lot of research before choosing who to go with but MYA stood out above and beyond the rest. I was so nervous, so I really wanted to go with a company that would look after me and provide good aftercare which is exactly what I got.
What are your top 3 tips you would give to someone looking into having a rhinoplasty procedure?
1. Do it for yourself regardless of what anyone else thinks.
2. Be brave - it’s not as scary as you think.
3. Healing and recovery takes time, don’t put too much pressure on yourself!
How was your consultation with your MYA surgeon?
My consultation with my surgeon was great! It was so refreshing to speak to someone who understood where I was coming from and what I wanted rather than have everyone tell you ‘No your nose is fine, you don’t need anything done’. He was so friendly and had such a gentle demeanour, I felt like he really listened to my concerns which made me feel like I was in good hands and confident to go ahead with my surgery.
How was your rhinoplasty recovery?
It’s definitely been a journey. Every morning I’d wake up and look like a different version of myself but like they say you’ve got to trust the process. I never actually felt any physical pain at all just slight discomfort from the swelling. My immediate swelling and brushing was gone by week 2 and I’m not at week 3 with only swelling around my bridge and tip but the results are still better than I could have ever expected already so I’m delighted!!
Do you feel differently following your rhinoplasty procedure?
The procedure has changed my life. My confidence has definitely grown. At my work I’m more confident to chair my own meetings and talk in front of crowds which is something i definitely could’ve never done before because I felt so anxious about myself.
It’s so weird to look at myself in the mirror and not hate what i see. Even no longer having to try to get the right angles in photos to avoid the hump in my nose sticking out. It’s a weight lifted off my shoulders and I wish I did it sooner. I finally feel comfortable in my own skin after years of being unhappy.
What advice would you give someone that is worried about rhinoplasty swelling and scarring?
Don’t be, I'm three weeks in and can barley see my rhinoplasty scars! And as for the swelling, trust me it will do down. Take lots of pictures right after your surgery so you can remind yourself how far you’ve come and to remember that your swelling has a long way to go but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
How would you describe your MYA rhinoplasty journey?
Emotional and life-changing!
Would you recommend MYA?
I couldn’t recommend MYA highly enough. During my time at MYA I was always chaperoned at appointments by a member of staff who were always lovely, friendly and friendly and would advised me on my next steps so I left the clinic feeling really positive. They’ve achieved everything I could’ve ever expected and more. It’s been such a special journey and they’ve been fantastic.
The advice I would give to others looking to get a rhinoplasty procedure is, if you want it just go for it. Do a lot of research and try not to compare yourself too much to others. Your journey is your own and you’ll get to where you want to be with patience and time.
