Can you try on breast implants?

Of course!

There are many different variations of breast implants. They can be round or teardrop shaped and differ in the levels of projection.

Trying on breast implants is a great way to get an understanding of the look and feel of your new boobs pre-op. Testing multiple different shapes and sizes helps you decide which one is right for you and your body shape.

When can I try on breast implants?

During your surgeon consultation, you will discuss the outcome and appearance you are looking to achieve with breast surgery. The surgeon will make implant size and shape recommendations based on your physiology, existing breast tissue, body shape, and desired look. The surgeon will then give you a few different breast implant sizes for you to try on.

Immediately following your surgeon consultation, you will meet with a MYA nurse who will assist you with the breast implant sizers. This a great opportunity to get a feel for the shape, size, and weight of different breast implants. We have teardrop implants and round implants for you to try, in different ccs and varying projections. You can try as many combinations as you need to find the right one for you. All you need to do is pop the implant sizer into a sports bra, put on a vest top, and have a look in the mirror!

MYA’s top tips for trying on breast implants:

  • You must bring your own sports bra to try on the breast implants

  • We recommend taking lots of photos from different angles for you to look back at

  • Don’t be afraid to try different sizes

  • Trust your surgeon's advice – they are the breast experts!

Do I need to try on different breast implant sizes?

While you don’t necessarily need to try on different implant sizes at your consultations, it’s highly recommended. It gives you a good idea of what you’ll look like after having a boob job and allows you to get a feel for the weight.

It is important to remember that this is not an exact representation of how the implants will sit on your chest, but more of a guide to help you envision what breast implants will look like on you.

How do I know what size breast implants to pick?

MYA use the highest quality Mentor implants for breast augmentation surgery. If you are considering a breast enlargement or breast uplift (augmented mastopexy), your expert MYA surgeon will help guide you through the process of picking your implants using our breast implant size guide.

Choosing what size breast implants you want can feel a little overwhelming at times, which is why our dedicated MYA team are on hand to help you every step of the way. We recommend carrying out some research into the shape and size of the breast implants you are considering so you have a rough idea in mind before meeting your surgeon.

Many patients also choose at home methods such as the rice test to see how they’ll look after a boob job.

Breast Implant Guide

What is the rice test?

The rice test is an at-home way of seeing what your new boobs will look like under clothing. As you’re not able to take the breast implants home with you, this DIY trick means you can visualise what your new body will look like post-op.

While this won’t give you the exact weight and size, it acts as a good guide of what to expect after a breast augmentation.

You can do the rice test prior to your surgeon consultation so you can say what you have tried and what you like the look of, so they can get the corresponding breast implant ready for you.

You can also do it in the run-up to your procedure to get used to how your clothes will look with implants.

How to do the rice test at home?

Once you’ve tried the breast implants on, you will probably be starting to get super excited about your procedure. Lots of patients are eager to recreate the breast implants at home by carrying out the infamous rice test. This is a great way to envision what the breast implants will look like in different outfits, and you can try the implants on as many times as you like!
