What is Liposuction surgery?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that targets areas of stubborn fat that are difficult to lose through diet and exercise. Liposuction surgery involves removing excess fat cells beneath the skin using a thin hollow tube called a cannula. A special vacuum is attached to the tube to sculpt and contour the treatment area.
Liposuction procedures will take place at one of our wonderful third-party hospital facilities and are carried out under general anaesthetic. Depending on the number of areas you are having fat removal, the procedure should take between 30 mins –3 hours.
How much does Liposuction cost in the UK?
The cost of liposuction starts from £3,995 but prices may vary per patient. Liposuction costs are tailored to each individual’s unique requirements and differ per area of treatment.

Benefits of Liposuction:
Liposuction can be a life-changing procedure for patients of all ages. Liposuction can instil confidence and contribute to improved health and lifestyle. The main benefits of liposuction surgery include the following:
Increased confidence self-esteem
Removal of fat that is resistant to diet and exercise
Contoured treatment areas
Prevents excess sweating and chaffing
Ability to have wider choice in clothing
Patient's body feels more in proportion
Motivation to pursue a healthier lifestyle
Can have lasting benefits if patients maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise
Recovering from Liposuction surgery
The recovery period for liposuction is typically 6-8 weeks and patients will be required to take 7-10 days off work following their surgery. Patients who have a physically demanding job may be required to take a longer period of leave for their recovery, this can be discussed with the MYA clinical team.
Patients are required to wear a tight compression garment following liposuction surgery, the post-op compression garment helps to minimise swelling and allows the body to conform to its new shape. The compression garment must be worn day and night as instructed by the surgeon.
Every patient’s liposuction healing journey is different, most patients will see a result straight away, but it can take many months to see the final result. Scars are a natural part of the healing process following surgery; most will fade and become paler and flatter over time, although they never completely disappear.
It is important that patients attend all their post-operative appointments at their MYA clinical hub, so that a nurse can monitor their healing and deliver wound care.
Is Liposuction painful?
Patients will be under general anaesthetic for their liposuction surgery. However, following the procedure, patients may experience some mild discomfort during their recovery and should expect bruising and swelling to the treatment areas, this should subside after 7-21 days.
Is Liposuction surgery safe?
Liposuction surgery performed in the UK with a GMC registered surgeon is a safe procedure. As with any surgical procedure there are certain risks and limitations, these will be discussed in depth during your surgeon consultation. Any questions you may have will be answered by your surgeon or MYA clinical team.
