Walk this way
Going to the gym seems to be at the top of everyone’s new year's resolutions and it is a great way to stay fit and break up your daily routine. But lets face it, it’s not always attainable and gym memberships can be costly, especially if you don’t get your money’s worth.
Get those endorphins pumping with just a short walk, light jog or 10 minutes of yoga - a great way to get your groove back and get some fresh air at the same time, and any form of physical activity is guaranteed to give you a much needed boost of energy - even if it is gloomy outside.
Experiment with different fitness classes to find the right one for you - if you find a class like spin, or zumba that you enjoy, you’re more likely to keep it up. Schedule it in as part of your week and resist making excuses, so you really see the benefits (both physically and mentally). Attending a work out class with friends is also a great way to socialise and catch up at the same time.
Mind over matter
Mental health should be something you take seriously all year round, but when the Christmas tree goes back into hiding and the dark nights are darker than ever, it’s vital you pay attention to how you’re feeling.
Checking in with family and friends regularly and staying in tune with your mental health ensures things don’t get on top of you, stress is reduced and you feel more relaxed, even during testing situations.
We recommend spending 10-15 minutes practising relaxation and meditation. This small fraction of your day is a great way to maintain a calm mindset - this can be done at the start of the day or during times when you feel overwhelmed.
Tummy Loving Care
Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet can really transform your mental wellbeing. Keeping the indulgent takeaways to a minimum and cooking healthy meals with fresh ingredients has the ability to change your outlook on life, making you feel more positive and refreshed.
If you have a particular concern, try taking vitamins and probiotics to improve your overall health. Things like fatigue, lack of sleep and difficulty concentrating can all be improved by increasing your vitamin intake. Always seek advice from your GP or pharmacist before taking new supplements.
Top Tip: Find meals you enjoy and incorporate your favourite treats so you don’t feel restricted. Bulk cooking tasty meals is a great way to save time and make dinner time more convenient for your busy lifestyle.
Are cosmetic surgery procedures the answer?
January is often the month for a fresh start. While for some it could mean getting organised with a new diary, others use it as a time to invest in procedures that make them feel more confident.
Many of our patients have come back to us post-surgery telling us how confident they feel with the body of their dreams. They can now wear the clothes they want without feeling insecure and take on the day without feeling insecure about what they look like.
Liposuction is a popular treatment, especially at the start of the year after a month of celebrations, food and drink.
This involves removing unwanted fat in stubborn areas that are difficult to target through exercise and healthy eating. It can be done in a number of areas and improves the look of cellulite and stretch marks, revealing a smooth and even surface.
If you feel slightly out of proportion after Christmas, liposuction could be the treatment for you.
