The Procedure
There are two types of surgery, a mini and a full tummy tuck. Both are performed under general anaesthetic. In a mini tummy tuck, an incision is made across the lower abdomen, where excess fat and loose skin are removed. With a full tummy tuck, one incision is made across the lower abdomen and another is made around the tummy button. The muscles are pulled tighter and stitched in place. After excess fat and skin are removed we create a new tummy button.
How long does it take?
It can take up to 3 hours, depending on the surgery.
Is it right for me?
Any surgery is a big decision and we’ll provide all the details you need to make an informed choice. However, a tummy tuck is a fantastic option when diet and exercise have failed. But if you’re planning to become pregnant, surgery should wait until afterwards.
What happens after surgery?
An overnight hospital stay is usual, though some may need a couple of days, followed by a few weeks rest.
